SEARCH PROFILE
Twenty essential questions to be answered to facilitate a successful search:
- What is the Job Title of the position?
- What is the salary range, plus any bonus, commission, car allowance, or other forms of compensation?
- What are the key responsibilities and the measurable, expected results?
- Is this a supervisory position? If so, how many and what types of people will be supervised?
- To whom does this position report? (Name, title, background, length of service, etc.)
- Why is this position open?
- What personal qualities are important in a candidate?
- What professional or educational qualities are important?
- What have you done to fill it so far? How long have you been trying to fill it?
- What is the degree of urgency? When would you want to start a new person?
- If the person hired does a good job in this position, what’s the advancement potential?
- How many applicants, if any, have you interviewed for this position?
- When did you interview them?
- What sources have been used so far; internet, newspaper, other recruiters, referrals, etc?
- Are there currently any finalists for the position?
- What are your company’s “vital signs” (product or service, age, number of employees, sales, employee benefits, market share/positioning, etc)?
- Why should someone quit their job to join your company?
- What are your hiring procedures including interview schedules, drug or other testing, background checks, senior level approval, etc?
- Any companies or candidates that are off limits due to any reason, joint venture, non-compete etc.? Any preferred companies?
- Will you be available when we call to ask questions, present candidates, arrange interviews or get timely feedback?
